Packing for Your Northwestern Autumn Vacation | Fun Travel Guides

North America is filled with beautiful landscapes to travel to in the fall. Portland is one destination that is not only filled with gorgeous foliage, but also offers plenty of entertainment for tourists of a more liberal mindset. Fun Travel Guides has a few tips on what you’ll definitely want to take to Portland this fall.

Pack an umbrella.
While some people say that an umbrella in Portland, Oregon, is a clear sign of a tourist, we’re going to side with practicality here. It rains an average of 150 days every year in Portland–just take that umbrella!

Bring waterproof shoes.
On most trips, we encourage you to pack comfortable shoes. But when you’re headed to Oregon it’s good to remember that you’re going to be stepping into puddles all day long. You don’t want to deal with wet feet!

Bring a Water-Resistant Coat.
Be sure to have a raincoat or some kind of lightweight, water-resistant jacket that will protect you from the rain. 150 days of rain, every year. Do we really need to say more?

Cover Your Head.
With all the–beautiful–rain, you’ll need to protect your hair! If your jacket or raincoat lacks a hood, you’ll need to also pack something practical like a hat or beanie.

Think in Layers.
Portland in autumn I’d the type of destination where you will need to pack for a variety of weather. Keep warm and dry with plenty of light layers including scarves, leggings.

Take a Plan.
It’s no secret that Portland is filled with the artistic, wine, culinary and holiday events so many of us crave. Before you go on your trip, take the time to research the events happening while you’re in town.
